Natalie - work in progress
These are working photographs of Natalie, my first ball jointed doll. The images show her sculpt finished, but not strung.
I used pottery earthenware clay mixed with paper pulp to make her. After the parts were dry, I covered them with terra sigillatta - finest, tiniest particles of the same clay suspended in water. It gives the clay surface a soft, delicate sheen and a silky smooth surface. Now the parts need to be fired in a ceramic kiln. The colour differences will even out after this is done.
This doll was created with the intention of using her parts as models to make plaster moulds for casting. Natalie is about 60cm tall.
