Alice in Wonderland is one of those characters that captured imagination of a very large audience. Who doesn't know the story of a little girl who fell into a hole leading to another dimention, a classic tale that never ceases to inspire artists, makers, musicians and the movie people? Not everyone is a fan, but hardly anyone never heard of it.
To me, Alice has always had a special place amongst my books and in my heart. It's such a deep well of quirky fun, I've found it irresistable ever since I discovered that magical world. I remember seeing Jan Svankmajer's film based on it for the first time. I instantly fell in love.
Dollmakers usually appreciate the numerous opportunities that stem from the tale's various themes. My personal favourite is the food that promotes size changing in the consumer - oscilating between life-size, giant and miniature after eating or drinking is just something only possible in the dreamy reality of wonderland. Creating a doll based on Alice is nearly a must for many and it certaiy feels this way for me, too. I am currently working on it and cannot wait to reveal the finished project. For now, I just thought I'd share some notes on the subject... More when Alice is ready :)
